hi, i was just doing some internet searches about buddhism -- i have been a nichiren buddhist with the SGI my entire life; basically most of what this woman says is true except that the nichiren shoshu priests have been screwing things up for a very long time; basically, as far as I understand their basic difference is that they purport in their teachings that one can only gain enlightenment through the priests and through their high priest specifically, I only joined this site to respond to you, check out these books by Daisaku Ikeda, "Unlocking the Mysteries of Birth and Death and Everything in between." and "Life, An Enigma a Precious Jewel." Both give a real and fair explanation of what this is all about -- Daisaku Ikeda is the president of the Lay Organization -- the Soka Gakkai International -- We split with the priests when they tried excommunicating everyone after they pulled a bunch of garbage and tried to secure their authority over everyone practicing this buddhism -- the sgi is currently 12 million strong in 190 countries, which bascally proliferated since the 50's. anyways, just wanted to give you a more fair and informed view so you can draw your own conclusions, rather than a one sided introduction -- I am sure that some people who practice with the priests are fine people -- just the whole point of buddhism is that you can access your buddha nature your self just as you are...
take care best to you, I am sure you will be able to find the SGI in your country..
ciao

Hullo buddhawoman and once again my thanks to you for creating this group. I know very little of the Buddhism way of life, however one of my treasured books called "The Art of Happiness" - A Handbook for Living, by His Holiness, Tenzin Gyatso, the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, has given me some insight to that profound philosophy. Notice in the picture how he (the Dalai Lama) is seen to be under the protection of a multi-coloured `umbrella` I believe this is to demonstrate the many energy centres one can learn to understand the meaning of, as they pertain to the main `chakra` energy centres that exist within our human form, to which we can connect with and use to heal ourselves. So I am looking forward to learning some more here with yourself and the other friends here in this group. Lane - (aussie-owl).

The disciple of Buddha is a fool who sees his foolishness..and knows that he needs work
to follow the path to achieve neutrality..

Buddhism is in your heart. Not in your mind!!!It is when you are doing something by looking inside of yourself and not outside yourself...
Buddhism is not easy to do. If it was easy everyone would be doing it. It is compassion and going though all kinds of stuff..
But is way to grow.
