An Interesting non reported item

Does the name Jay Bybee ring a bell with anyone? He is now a sitting appellate level judge on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. I believe that is in San Francisco. It seems this eminent (?) jurist was the originator of the torture memos (and the AbuGharib and Guantanamo torture methods). His memos specifically laid out what was permissible and not. At the time of his hearings in front of Congress, Congress was not aware of this and thus qualified him for his now post. When later asked Bybee claims his memos and what he did or did not say was protected by Presidential privlege. While Bybee was an assistant attorney general at the time he was in no way covered by Presidential privlige. While the first instinct might be to impeach him now..that is a non starter. His alleged memos do not rise to high crimes and misdeamors which is required for impeachment. At the very least Congress should institute a Congressional hearing and do so publicly. The irony here is that while he is now an (eminent jurist (?)) he CAN claim his previous actions or writings have no relavance to his job. Nice! Justify torture, deny his accountability and still work as a judge enforcing and interpeting some of the very laws he swore to uphold.
