perceived as taboo even today as rape is---is difficult to get people to talk about. I was not in the military, but was a rape survivor from 1975.
Aside from research--women have no idea how
rough cops are on the victim--even though it was the middle of the night, I was asked what I was wearing at the time and if I had an orgasm. I had no accusor--he was masked. I had multiple bruises
and cuts--yet they asked that. It was surreal at the time. When I finally recovered enough to get a grasp on my life, I started researching rape.
No women understands rape until it happens to them. And then it takes time to learn it is not about sex--but power and control and humiliation.
I hope I can raise awareness in this dark area and
women will rally behind this---the numbers are
there to enforce change--but no call for changes.
It will take a lot of airing of dirty laundry before
women even unite--but when they do, I honestly
believe change will occur.
